Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow
A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Alexander Valvezan at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. The Valvezan Lab works to define the complex interplay between the signaling pathways and metabolic networks that control cell growth and cancer, with emphasis on identifying and exploiting metabolic vulnerabilities to develop new therapeutic approaches. The Postdoctoral Fellow will work at the interface of basic and translational science, combining genetic, pharmacological and molecular biology/biochemistry approaches with the latest metabolomics, metabolic flux analysis, and expression profiling assays in cultured cells and mouse tumor models to gain a comprehensive understanding of how signaling pathways remodel cellular metabolism and how to leverage these insights for therapeutic benefit.
The Rutgers Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT) invites applications for one postdoctoral associate position. The successful candidate will report to Dr. Hao Wang at CAIT and will work independently associated with the projects related to low-carbon concrete materials and sustainable pavements. The candidate is expected to perform both fundamental and applied researches and needs publish research findings in journal and conferences. The candidate will also assist in the development and writing of research proposals for external funding.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow
Under the direction of Dr. Qi Yang, the Postdoctoral Fellow(s) will be responsible for the performance and analysis of experiments focused on development and function of novel immune cells. The project is part of a larger research effort in the lab that will focus on the development and function of novel innate immune cells in vital tissues such as the lung and the brain. In addition, the postdoc(s) will participate in lab meetings, seminars, and scientific presentations; will prepare manuscripts; aid in developing the PI’s grant applications; instruct and train students; and assist the PI in managing the daily functions of the lab.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow
Under the direction of Dr. Derek Sant’Angelo (PI) the Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for the performance and analysis of experiments focused on the transcription control of T cell effector functions in the context of diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease or Type 1 Diabetes. The applicant should have a strong background in immunology, cell biology, transcription factors and/or genomics. Experience with mouse models, FACS and/or RNA-seq is preferred. In addition, the candidate will participate in lab meetings, research in progress seminars, prepare manuscripts, assist in grant writing, and is expected to apply for fellowship opportunities.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow
Applicant must hold a PhD or equivalent degree in neuroscience, biochemistry, molecular biology, psychology, computer science, biomedical engineering, biology, or other biomedical discipline is required. Previous research using 2-photon imaging, slice electrophysiology, optogenetics, or coding is preferred, but we are also interested in candidates with expertise in biochemistry, cell biology, and genetics who want to pursue additional training. The Postdoc will participate in lab meetings, research in progress seminars, and presentations at conferences. They will prepare manuscripts based on their research, aid in developing the PI’s grant applications, and will be expected to apply for personal grant funding. The primary purpose of the Postdoctoral Fellow position is to conduct independent laboratory research under the direction of the principal investigator. The current focus of the lab is the mechanisms and models of cancers associated with mutations in tumor suppressors BRCA1, PALB2 and BRCA2. The postdoctoral appointee will use mammalian cell culture and mouse models to understand the functions of these tumor suppressors in DNA replication, damage repair and cell cycle checkpoint control in vitro and vivo, and may also explore avenues to model or prevent cancer development associated with mutations in the genes. Candidates should have a new or recent Ph.D. degree and strong background in molecular biology and mammalian cell biology. Prior background in mouse work is also desirable.

The Olarerin lab is interested in identifying how certain sequence motifs in RNA regulate gene expression in response to stimuli such as pathogen infection or drug treatment. The Postdoctoral Fellow will help develop and test hypothesis related to this research question using and developing computational and wet lab techniques. This will involve, for example, the integration of multiple large-scale gene expression datasets and sequence data to generate unbiased, novel, and exciting hypotheses about gene expression regulation. We will then test the most fundamental and disease relevant of these hypotheses to discover new gene regulation principles that can provide insight into disease states such as cancer and viral infections.

The research interest of the Montagna lab is to conduct cancer research affecting a variety of tissues to analyze experiments relative to the understanding of molecular mechanisms of tumor initiation and progression. The Montagna Lab at Rutgers Cancer Institute leverages multiple experimental approaches. Including single-cell genomics by next-generation sequencing, in situ single-cell analyses of DNA and RNA by Fluorescent in situ Hybridization (FISH), and CRISPR gene editing to induce genomic instability and study its consequences on tumor transformation and therapy response. The candidate will have the opportunity to join a highly translational laboratory that seeks to identify underlying mechanisms of tumorigenesis and translate these findings into improved personalized therapeutic strategies for treating breast and cervical cancer.

The Center for Research on Ending Violence (REV) at the Rutgers School of Social Work is seeking a postdoctoral scholar interested in gaining further experience related to issues of interpersonal violence specific to the Latinx/o/a population, mentored by Dr. Chiara Sabina. REV provides a unique, supportive, and rich educational environment for post-doctoral associates to continue their learning and to contribute to the Center’s work. The center has been recognized as a national leader in producing research to address and prevent interpersonal violence. Rutgers School of Health Professions (SHP) – Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to work on translational projects at the intersection of biomechanics, frailty and cognitive impairment assessment, and machine learning. Within this research program we aim to address two critical aging research questions: 1) Can a dynamic stress-response model of physiological systems using a sub-maximal stress test replicate the results of real-life stress (such as invasive therapies) and 2) Can and to what extent, considering multiple physiological systems and interactions between them, explain cognitive impairment in older adults using the stress-response model. An important component of this position will be to work as part of an interdisciplinary team spanning across colleges of engineering, medicine, and science. The successful candidate will be required to lead independent research projects, work closely with medical collaborators, mentor students, and publish high-quality research each year.
