We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral research fellow with a strong background in Developmental/Behavioural Pediatrics and patient-oriented research. The successful candidate will join the Precision Neurodevelopment Lab and work alongside diverse research staff, students, and partners with lived experience to understand and improve the everyday lives of neurodiverse children with behaviours of concern and their families. Our lab is proudly inclusive. This position offers the unique opportunity to work on projects within a collaborative research lab embedded in a developmental pediatrics subspecialty clinic. The research-to-clinic pathway strongly supports implementation science-focused projects.
Candidates should hold (or be near completion of) a PhD in neuroscience, pediatrics, medical science, psychology, or a related field within the last 5 years. The Indigenous Perinatal Epidemiology & Data Sovereignty Postdoctoral Program is a two-year, community-embedded research fellowship focused on building Indigenous-governed perinatal data systems that support reproductive sovereignty, maternal-child wellness, and cord-intact care across pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early childhood. This position trains emerging scholars in Indigenous-led epidemiology, not as surveillance, but as relational accountability infrastructure that enabling communities, Nations, and families to reclaim authority over how perinatal data are defined, collected, interpreted, stored, and mobilized.

The Department of Radiology in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar in Quantitative Medical Imaging in Aging and Neurodegeneration under the supervision of Richard Frayne, PhD. The position is based in the Vascular Imaging Laboratory (VIL) a component of the Seaman Family MR Research Centre and involves significant engagement with the Calgary Image Processing and Analysis Centre (CIPAC). Both centers are located at the Foothills Medical Centre and adjacent to the School of Medicine.
The successful Postdoctoral Scholar will work on a project entitled ¿Novel MR Imaging Biomarkers for Detecting Early Change in Alzheimer¿s Disease and Related Dementias¿ that is funded by the Alzheimer¿s Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories (Hope for Tomorrow Research Competition) and the Hotchkiss Brain Institute (HBI) at the University of Calgary.
The broad research objective of this project is to investigate the use of normalized population curves of quantitative MR (qMR) measures to identify early markers of risk for cognitive decline and dementia in the aging population. The study will use longitudinal data collected in the Calgary Normative Study over the past decade (McCreary et al., BMJ Open 2020; 10: e038120. doi: 10.1136/bmjopen-2020-038120). Additional data, including from individuals with cognitive impairment will be acquired during this project.

The project brings together four provincial governments, four grid operators, several industry partners, and over 40 First Nations to lay the foundation for successful expansion of Indigenous-led interprovincial transmission. The Postdoctoral Scholar will carry out research under the direction and supervision of a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the Faculty of Science. The minimum initial annual salary for this Postdoctoral Scholar appointment is $49,000. The annual salary will increase to $51,000 on July 1, 2026, and $53,000 on July 1, 2027. For further information about the terms and conditions of employment that apply to this Postdoctoral Scholar appointment, please review the Collective Agreement between the University of Calgary and the Postdoctoral Fellows Association of the University of Calgary.
Postdoctoral Scholars in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics can earn additional income by contributing to teaching within the Department. The successful applicant for this Postdoctoral appointment will be expected to concurrently apply for the Sessional Teaching positions posted on Job ID 35984.
Sessional teaching appointments are compensated separately, in accordance Schedule “B” of the Collective Agreement between the University of Calgary and the Faculty Association of the University of Calgary. The current base salary rate for Sessional appointments is $7,044 per half course equivalent. There are normally two Sessional teaching appointments available to each Postdoctoral Scholar each year.
