Do you want to play a key role as a Senior Researcher / Acquisition Specialist in making agriculture more sustainable and driving the energy transition?

At ACRRES, we are looking for a Senior Researcher / Acquisition Specialist in Sustainable Energy in Agriculture — someone with vision, a strong network, and an entrepreneurial spirit who can help develop future-proof farming systems.

You will work at the intersection of agriculture, energy, and circularity. You understand both the language of farmers and researchers, feel at home in the world of the energy transition, and are able to translate research questions and practical opportunities into innovative research projects.

Your project consists of two interrelated tasks. Firstly, in the context of the BIORESIST project, the postdoc will review biocide regulation for the prevention of zoonotic diseases (i.e., poultry diseases) in selected countries, analyse relevant policy frameworks, and carry out semi-structured interviews with stakeholders including in national reference laboratories, local farmers, veterinarians, and policymakers. 

Secondly, in the context of the ERRAZE project, the postdoc will evaluate a WUR prototype One Health policy screening tool on the usability, scalability and adoptability of One Health policies by decision-makers, and expanding the regulatory dimension and utility of the tool at different governmental levels. 

In the context of these two assignments, you will play a key role in advising national governments – some already pioneering with a National One Health Strategy on implementation and compliance conditions for One Health – at county-level. This includes mapping governance gaps, advising on policy and regulatory reforms, and co-creating with local partners a roadmap for improving zoonotic and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance systems, governance structures, funding streams, institutional coordination, and multistakeholder and farmer engagement and self-sustaining capacity for societal resilience.  

We have an exciting postdoc position at the Forest Ecology and Management chairgroup (FEM) at Wageningen University and Research, in close collaboration with CIFOR-ICRAF in Nairobi. The postdoc will be part of the ERC funded project REACT: Regreening Africa with Natural Regeneration to Madelon Lohbeck (PI). The project aims to understand how, when and where natural regeneration contributes to forest and landscape restoration. This includes: what tree species regenerate under what social and environmental conditions? What restoration outcomes can be achieved and for whom?

We are offering an exciting postdoctoral research position within the Animal Breeding and Genomics (ABG) group of Wageningen University for a motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with a background in quantitative genetics, animal or plant breeding, or statistical genetics.

You will be employed for a maximum of four years at a newly funded NWO-AES project “Genetic variance Estimation Now (GEN): Estimating current genetic variance components in populations under selection”. You will work closely together with a PhD candidate and industry partners on the same project, and will be located at the Animal Breeding and Genomics group of Wageningen University & Research in Wageningen.
