(01) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: PostDoc in Computational Biology: Study of the crosstalk between the tumor and immune system in metastatic colorectal cancer
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with genuine interest in biomedicine and a strong proficiency in data analysis. In this project, we study how tumor-intrinsic genetic alterations and spatially organized microenvironmental niches jointly shape metastatic progression and therapy response in colorectal cancer. The project is strongly oriented towards clinical applications and identification of new therapeutic avenues.
The key responsibilities include:
Working closely with interdisciplinary project partners
Integrating newly generated datasets with multi-omics profiles of tumors from previous studies
Developing new machine learning models through collaboration with the Swiss Data Science Centre
Establishing data analysis pipelines, writing manuscripts and presenting at scientific conferences
Postdoc summary/title: PostDoc to develop a injectable hydrogel for intraocular drug delivery
Retinal diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema are major causes of vision loss and are commonly treated with intravitreal injections of biologics. However, current intraocular often require frequent administration due to limited drug residence time, creating a high burden for patients and clinics. We thus aim to develop a minimally invasive, injectable biomaterial platform designed to enable predictable, long-term ocular delivery of biologics while maintaining optical clarity and tissue compatibility.
In the frame of this project, you will work with a team of scientists with backgrounds in chemistry and cell biology as well as with clinical partners on the development of an injectable hydrogel system for controlled drug delivery. You will design the hydrogel, tune its properties and subsequently functionalize it to achieve predictable drug release using state of the art facilities and equipment.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: PostDoc/Scientist on bitumen chemomechanics
A PhD degree in Chemical engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field, as well as strong management and communication skills are required. The tasks will require a high degree of innovativeness in binder research, including mastery of asphalt binder chemical and mechanical characterization, production process optimization while consid-ering scalability and material availability. A knowledge of the asphalt mechanical perfor-mance and pavement design concepts will be considered an advantage. We are looking for a highly motivated team player who is curious to learn new things, is self-motivated, and has excellent English communication and writing skills. Knowledge of German language will be considered an advantage.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc position in CO2 electrocatalysis under realistic conditions
We are looking for a highly motivated team player who thrives in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment. The ideal candidate possesses a PhD degree in chemistry or chemical engineering, materials science, physics, or related discipline. As this project is a cutting-edge research activity beyond the current state-of-the-art in electrocatalysis, we are looking for someone creative, curious, highly motivated, and with excellent problem-solving and technical skills. Prior experience in electrochemistry and/or catalysis is a strong advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently in the lab while collaborating and communicating effectively with our multidisciplinary team.
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Researcher on CO2 Solid Adsorbent Shaping and Degradation
The project builds on Empa’s expertise in the field of sorbents and carbon capture. The position is part of the National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) “Separations”, a collaborative project lead by EPFL (Prof. Wendy Queen) and further involving ETH Zurich, University of Fribourg, HES-SO, Northwestern University (USA) and University of Alberta (Canada).
