The successful candidate will join the Automation & Robotics Research Group (ARG), contributing to the situational awareness research line for robots and autonomous systems led by Dr. Jose Luis Sanchez-Lopez.

The position holder will perform the following tasks:

• Conduct cutting-edge research in perception and situational understanding, advancing the state-of-the-art in SLAM, situational awareness, computer vision, machine learning, robotics, and related fields
• Developing and implementing innovative solutions, validated through real datasets and experiments on our robotic platforms
• Disseminating research findings through publications in leading peer-reviewed journals (e.g., IEEE RA-L, Elsevier RAS) and top conferences (e.g., ICRA, IROS), and engaging in outreach events
• Take a leading role in research projects, prepare project deliverables and collaborate with stakeholders
• Being involved in the preparation of research proposals to secure industry partnerships and attract national and European grant funding
• Mentor and being involved in the supervision of PhD students on an everyday basis, offering guidance and support in their research, while co-authoring publications

• Support further developing and expanding the SEDAN team, its research, and role in shaping interdisciplinary research, in making AI secure, by developing new Cybersecurity paradigms for AI
• Shape and supervise research direction at the intersection of AI and cybersecurity, including defensive and offensive security mechanisms
• Lead and contribute to the development and management of national and international projects in SEDAN, including proposal preparation, reporting, and coordination with external partners
• Foster collaborations across disciplines – in particular between cybersecurity and AI with private and public stakeholders in Luxembourg and abroad
• Contribute to teaching activities at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD levels in topics such as AI security, network cybersecurity
• Provide daily and content supervision of PhD candidates and support doctoral and postdoctoral training; e.g., research seminars, reading groups, workshops, and conferences
• Represent SnT and SEDAN in academic and public venues, strengthening the visibility of cybersecurity research in Luxembourg and abroad

The successful candidate will become a member of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust, within the SEDAN research group, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Radu STATE, Full Professor at the University of Luxembourg.

A new Bachelor in ATM radiology will be launched in September 2025. In this context, we are seeking a dedicated Research Scientist in ATM Radiology to join our multidisciplinary team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in medical imaging while actively engaging in teaching and mentoring students and trainees. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in radiology, medical imaging technologies, and research methodologies, with a passion for advancing scientific knowledge and training the next generation of professionals.

In 2023, the University launched four bachelor programmes in specialized nursing sciences in the fields of surgery, anaesthesia/resuscitation, paediatrics, and mental health. A fifth programme ‘Bachelor of Nursing in General Care’ started in September 2024, while two more bachelor programmes – Midwifery and radiographer/clinical imaging – are set to commence in September 2025. These programmes are organized by combining theoretical training as well as simulations using the latest technology with practical training in hospitals, outpatient clinics and care centres, in collaboration with various institutions in the country and abroad.

The Research Scientist in Nursing Science will be attached to the University on a full-time basis. S/he will have to report to the Directors of the Programs and contribute directly to the development and the excellence of the new Bachelors’ of Science in Nursing. We seek an innovative modeler focusing on the human social aspects of food systems transformation, specifically on labor markets. The successful candidate will investigate how European producers are adapting to intensifying labor scarcity, their exposure to heat stress and other changes to the food systems. The research will inform adaptations to structural changes in labor markets in the context of climate change.

The Postdoctoral researcher will utilise existing evidence and advanced fine-scale modelling techniques to deepen our understanding of the dynamics of farm labor markets. Ultimately, this work aims to strengthen sustainable food production systems and support the resilience of rural communities.

• Understand the drivers and impacts of intensifying farm labor scarcity on European food systems as well as spillovers to other regions
• Map the data landscape on farm workers in Europe by identifying key sub-groups of farm workers. Lead the development of a comprehensive and standardized fine-scale database that captures the diversity of farm worker typologies and labor market outcomes, including the identification and bridging of critical data gaps
• Acquire and apply state-of-the-art modelling techniques for fine-scale analysis of local agricultural systems, with integration to global market drivers influencing production decisions
• Support the development of Farm Labor module within multi-scale modelling framework for the agricultural sector, like the Simplified International Model for agricultural Prices, Land-use and the Environment, Gridded version – SIMPLE-G
• Use the module to evaluate how farm labor markets interact with expected changes in food systems, e.g., dietary preferences, climate change, e.g., labor heat stress, and policy initiatives
• Foster strong cross-disciplinary collaborations within LCSES, contribute to overlapping research themes where appropriate and further support the establishment of LCSES
