The newly created Research Network on Women, Peace and Security (RN-WPS) is extending a two-year post-doctoral opportunity under the supervision of Prof. Erin Baines at the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs (SPPGA), University of British Columbia (UBC) and Prof Megan MacKenzie at the School of International Studies at Simon Fraser University (SFU).  The administrative home of the post-doctoral fellow is SPPGA, and the candidate will have a Visiting Fellow position at SFU.

(02) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: DEVELOPMENT OF NOVEL, OPERATIONAL, FOREST MONITORING TOOLS FROM SATELLITE IMAGERY AND AIRBORNE LASER SCANNING TECHNOLOGIES.

Knowledge of advanced remote sensing approaches and modelling focused on forest inventory needs and sustainable forest management is critical. We require a two year post doctoral fellow to develop the framework and then lead its implementation across a number of key sites. It is anticipated the framework could then be applied by other researchers as part of the ongoing Silva21 project.  Outcomes of this research will be shared via peer-reviewed publications and open-access software package.

The project will focus on the research and development of machine learning algorithms and deep learning methods when applied to digital lung auscultation data and other relevant data. Postdoctoral position summary/title: POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW IN NEUROIMAGING.

The UBC Department of Psychology is inviting applications for a position as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health under the supervision of Dr. Catharine Winstanley and Dr. Luke Clark.  The broad goal of their collaborative research program is to understand the interaction between brain reward circuitry and the features of gambling products which together promote vulnerability to problem gambling. The successful candidate will take a lead role in a study of reward-related brain activity in gambling disorder using hybrid PET-MRI and will be expected to contribute to developing an innovative program of neurobehavioral and clinical research using this novel technology.

(07) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: POSTDOC TEACHING FELLOW – INTRODUCTION TO CLINICAL, PATIENT ORIENTED AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH.

The Postdoc Teaching Fellow will be working with the course directors, Drs. Cheryl Gregory-Evans and Alice Mui to deliver MEDI 503 to around 20 master’s students. The primary focus of this course will be to provide education and training for those pursuing clinical, patient oriented,and translational research. The course will last for approximately 13 weeks with two 90 minute sessions per week. Sessions will be a mixture of didactic lectures, discussion, and group projects.

(09) Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral position summary/title: BIOINFORMATICS AND SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team at UBC working at the intersection of Data Mining, Biological Chemistry and Synthetic Biology of medicinal plants. Their work involves the Data Mining of plant transcriptomes and genomes and AI-based methods in integrating omics with chemical biosynthesis. They will also perform deep sequencing data analysis and feature extraction from large-scale omics datasets for new biocatalysts. They will also establish novel bioinformatics analysis pipelines for newly collected omics data and will have an opportunity to explore other areas such as synthetic biology and biological chemistry.

The successful candidate must exhibit excellent communication skills; a demonstrated potential for excellence in research productivity; a Ph.D., or M.D., or Pharm.D., or equivalent degree. The successful candidate will seek to share their research findings through publications, presentations, and other knowledge transfer activities. They will collaborate with various parties including internal and external researchers, stakeholders and national and international bodies. In addition, the successful candidate should demonstrate some experience in writing or assisting with the writing of grant applications.
