PhD position summary/title: Doctoral student in Energy Systems
We are now looking for a doctoral student in Sustainability Effects of Biogas Solutions with placement at the Division of Energy Systems at the Department of Management and Engineering (IEI).
The holder of the position will be part of a national, transdisciplinary center of excellence called the Biogas Solutions Research Center (BSRC). The center co-produces new and relevant knowledge through collaboration between different scientific disciplines, and between researchers and practitioners from industry and public organizations. BSRC includes researchers and support from two universities, Linköping University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, about 50 private and public organizations that involve all parts of the biogas system and have additional support from the Swedish Energy Agency.
Deadline : January 10, 2022.

(03) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: PhD student in Communication Networks.
The PhD student will be involved in the project “Semantics-Empowered Communication for Networked Intelligent Systems” funded by the Swedish Research Council. The rapidly increasing mobile traffic, the demand for ubiquitous connectivity, and the generation of data in large quantities are natural consequences of the digital information revolution. These trends are expected to further increase in the era of connected intelligence, fueled by the interconnection of myriad autonomous devices (robots, vehicles, drones, etc.) with advanced sensing, communications, computing, and learning capabilities. These systems are expected to generate a tremendous amount of data that need to be communicated in real-time. However, there are two major challenges to overcome. First, generating, processing, transferring, and restoring remotely multimodal information in real-time, and the non-separable nature of the actions stated previously. Second, the entire communication process, from the very beginning until achieving its purpose, must incorporate the importance and the usefulness of the information generated and transmitted. This project has the ambitious objective to develop the theoretical and algorithmic foundations of goal-oriented, data important aware communication to overcome the challenges and to reveal the power of future hyperconnected intelligent systems.
Deadline : December 17, 2021.
(04) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: PhD student in Materials physics
The project for which we are now looking for a PhD student concerns fundamental research within material physics and materials chemistry, primarily focused on investigation of novel 2D materials for energy storage and/or energy conversion.
The Materials Design division is currently active in the development of materials for supercapacitors and batteries, and also investigate novel materials for catalysis, including hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). We would now like to expand on these activities through application-inspired fundamental research: We have a strong track record in the discovery of new MXenes, and we now intend to explore MXenes as well as new 2D materials beyond MXenes for these areas of applications.
Deadline : 13 December 2021
