PhD position summary/title: PHD STIPEND IN SATELLITE GEODESY DATA ASSIMILATION (20-22071)
The PhD project will focus on improving the understanding of the dynamics of the global water cycle. The scientific activities will be within the research project DANSk-LSM (Developing efficient multi-sensor Data Assimilation frameworks for integrating Earth ObservatioN Satellite data into Land Surface Models) that is supported by the Intendent Research Fund Denmark (DFF).
Deadline : 29/09/2022
(02) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: ONE OR MORE PHD STIPEND(S) AT THE CENTER FOR NEUROPLASTICITY AND PAIN (CNAP) (21-22072)
CNAP is a basic research Center of Excellence supported by the Danish National Research Foundation at Aalborg University, Denmark (http://www.cnap.hst.aau.dk). The vision of CNAP is to identify and modulate key features of human pain neuroplasticity through a systematic engineering approach, including provoking, probing, and modulating the dynamic neuroplastic properties of the pain system. We believe that this approach over time will facilitate new fundamental discoveries and change the state of the art. Our world class lab facilities enable advanced quantitative sensory/pain testing, application of advanced neurophysiological techniques (e.g. EEG, TMS, rTMS, HD-tDCS), bio-medical techniques (e.g. linked with epigenetics and general biomarkers), as well as research based on animal models (e.g. rodents and pigs). All research at CNAP is conducted in accordance with the present ethical guidelines.

PhD position summary/title: PHD STIPEND IN GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING (6-22070)
The PhD position will be part of the Geotechnical Engineering Group. The Research areas for this PhD position will focus on developing Ground Screws technology. The research will be based on a combination of computational models and physical model tests in the laboratory and the field. One task is to develop new design guidelines for Screws Piles based on experiments performed in the laboratory and field tests in combination with numerical calculations. The candidate must have a background in Geotechnical Engineering and testing of large-scale models. The candidate must have good mathematical knowledge. Good skills in numerical modelling in Plaxis and the programming language Python are required. Experience in performing advanced large-scale testing, analysing and modelling the test results. The candidate will be part of a Danish Innovations fond – Grand Solutions project: Day to Day foundation. The successful candidate will also be required to conduct teaching activities at all levels in Geotechnical engineering.
Deadline : 08/09/2022
(04) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: PHD STIPEND IN MISSION-CRITICAL CONNECTIVITY FOR CLOUD-CONNECTED ROBOTIC LIMBS (8-22065)
Recent advances in wireless connectivity and cloud/edge computing pave the way for the next generation of assistive robotic systems, like bionic limbs and exoskeletons, which will be constanly connected to the cloud. Such systems, equiped with advanced sensors, will become truly intelligent, capable to decrase the cognitive burden of control or even perform some of the tasks autonomosly. This will lead to an increased acceptance and active use of assistive robotic systems, reducing the currently high rejection rates and improving the overall quality of patients’ lifes.

(05) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: PHD STIPEND IN ANOMALY DETECTION ALGORITHMS IN SAFE OPERATION OF POWER-TO_X (8-22059)
The PhD project is to develop methods for plant-wide fault detection, condition monitoring and risk assessment in PtX (hydrogen production from wind energy). The faults can occur in the equipment, sensors, actuators, or storage. One example of a failure could be leakage through cracks in the reactor walls, caused by vibration and corrosion. The development of preventive measures requires monitoring and early warning technologies. We aim to monitor system dynamics and chosen process variables to predict a failure before it takes place. Subsequently, its consequences are automatically computed to provide plant operators with information needed to take decisions about whether to stop production, replace parts, or conduct repairs.

(06) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: ONE OR MORE PHD STIPENDS IN RADIO CONCEPTS FOR EXTENDED REALITY (XR) APPLICATIONS IN 6G (8-22064)
Future 6th Generation (6G) radio systems are expected to bridge the gap between digital and physical worlds by supporting services such as holographic presence, extreme extended reality (XR) with tactile feedback and high accuracy sensing. It is envisioned that 6G will consist of a set of specialized subnetworks, where one of them is likely to be a “6G tethered network” specialized to enable XR. This tethered network will provide a localized versatile wireless connection between devices such as a primary 5G-Advanced/6G connected device, most likely an evolved smart phone, and several supporting XR devices, for example augmented reality (AR) glasses, haptic feedback gloves, wirelessly connected headphones, etc.
