(01) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: Doctoral (PhD) student position in signal transduction and targeted therapy in cancer
The overall objective for the PhD student (PhDs) is to learn and perform innovative preclinical studies to investigate the function of the βarr/GRKs signaling complexes involved in the GPCR/RTK crosstalk. The successful candidate will also learn how to use the generated knowledge to develop novel strategies for improved management of cancer patients. The supervisors represent expertise in tumor pathology, molecular pathology and tumor biology. The group has established model systems to study dysregulated signaling and its relation to tumor progression. The translational approach is aided through access to clinical material relevant for the project and close clinical collaborations.
Deadline : 22.Sep.2022

PhD position summary/title: PhD student position at Karolinska Institutet
The doctoral student project is very much focused on experimental targeted therapy with the aim to do translational research and provide our clinical collaborators valuable knowledge for improving patient treatment and survival. Various cell lines are treated with different drugs and the effects of the drugs are tested for their effects on the cell lines with different assays for viability, proliferation, cytoxicity etc. both in vitro and in vivo. A candidate with theoretical and practical experience in the above subjects and with experience in cell culture, FACS analysis, pharmacological treatments and molecular techniques such as qPCR, CETSA e.g. is an advantage. Furthermore, in vivo work may apply as well so experience there is also of benefit.
Deadline : 14.Sep.2022
(04) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: Doctoral position in neurobiology of metabolic diseases
The project is focused on identification and characterization of circuits directly or indirectly involved in the regulation of body weight in mice. Circuits will be identified using viral techniques, imaged, and manipulated during both homeostasis and metabolic challenges (i.e. obesity). Experimental read-outs will comprise behavioral and physiological parameters, as well as molecular analysis of gene expression.
Deadline : 14.Sep.2022

(05) PhD Degree – Fully Funded
PhD position summary/title: Doctoral (PhD) student position in Health Psychology
In this project, we are conducting user-centred development, evaluation and implementation of a digital behavioural intervention for individuals with chronic pain. The prototype is developed in close collaboration between researchers in academia, health care staff and representatives from the industry. Through qualitative studies, we are assessing the patients’ and health care staff’s needs and preferences. In addition, we are identifying facilitators and potential obstacles for sustainable implementation. In a series of optimization studies, we are evaluating the effects of the intervention at an individual level using Single Case Experimental Design to facilitate empirically supported improvements of the intervention. The project also includes a large RCT to validate the effects, prior to wide implementation of the intervention.
Deadline : 08.Sep.2022
(06) PhD Degree – Fully Funded

About The Karolinska Institute, Sweden – Official Website
The Karolinska Institute sometimes known as the (Royal) Caroline Institute in English is a research-led medical university in Solna within the Stockholm urban area of Sweden. The Nobel Assembly at the Karolinska Institute awards the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. The assembly consists of fifty professors from various medical disciplines at the university. The current rector of Karolinska Institute is Ole Petter Ottersen, who took office in August 2017.
The Karolinska Institute was founded in 1810 on the island of Kungsholmen on the west side of Stockholm; the main campus was relocated decades later to Solna, just outside Stockholm. A second campus was established more recently in Flemingsberg, Huddinge, south of Stockholm.
The Karolinska Institute is Sweden’s third oldest medical school, after Uppsala University (founded in 1477) and Lund University (founded in 1666). It is one of Sweden’s largest centres for training and research, accounting for 30% of the medical training and more than 40% of all academic medical and life science research conducted in Sweden.
The Karolinska University Hospital, located in Solna and Huddinge, is associated with the university as a research and teaching hospital. Together they form an academic health science centre. While most of the medical programs are taught in Swedish, the bulk of the PhD projects are conducted in English. The institute’s name is a reference to the Caroleans.
