Title of the Position:

Fully-funded PhD position in Mechanical Engineering
 

Description

A fully-funded PhD student position is available in the Computational Multiphase Flows Research Group [1] at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Department of Mechanical Engineering for proposed start date of January 2023. 

The PhD student will investigate water entry of solid objects by performing computational simulations using our in-house multiphase flow solver. This is a collaborative computational-experimental research project, and the student is expected to interact and work with our collaborators who are conducting experiments of water entry. The student will enroll in the Engineering & Applied Science (EAS) PhD program [2] and will become a member of the Center for Scientific Computing and Data Science Research [3].

Qualifications

Prior experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is required. Prior experience in multiphase flow simulations is a plus.

Deadline 

The preferred start date is January 15, 2023 (i.e., Spring 2023 semester). However, the start date can be discussed further.
