(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow in Pure Mathematics

We are looking for a Research Fellow to join our EPSRC-funded project “Model theory, Diophantine geometry and combinatorics”, led by Dr Pantelis Eleftheriou. As part of the project, you will work on the boundary of model theory, group theory and geometry to develop new insights about definable groups, Diophantine problems (around Pila-Wilkie) and graph-combinatorial conjectures (such as Zarankiewich, Erdos-Hajnal). In particular, you will consider those problems in various tame expansions of o-minimal structures (such as those having o-minimal open core, d-minimal structures, distal structures, H-structures, lovely pairs, RCVFs, and CODFs), and explore the transferring of tools from those settings to the general NIP setting (Not the Independence Property).

Deadline : 19 May 2022

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow in Biochemistry/Cell Biology

We are looking for an outstanding research fellow to join a well-established interdisciplinary team that is investigating how proteins aggregate into amyloid fibrils and cause disease. This Royal Society-funded post-doctoral fellowship aims to determine the mechanisms of amyloid formation in vitro, in cells and in model organisms. You will focus on contrasting protein systems, those involved in neurodegeneration (a-synuclein (aSyn) associated with Parkinson’s disease), a functional amyloid (CPEB/Orb2, involved in the formation and storage of long-term memories), and a protein involved in systemic amyloid formation (IAPP). Specifically, you will use biochemical approaches to modify the structures of the protein aggregates and determine their effect on cellular function, using primary cells, cell lines and relevant tissues. In addition, you will investigate how novel small molecules that modulate amyloid formation for a variety of proteins discovered in the group affect the cellular consequences of amyloid formation. The outcome will be a transformation in our understanding of how amyloid fibrils create or destroy memory, and new opportunities to target the dynamic interactome of amyloid fibril assemblies for human benefit.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Research Fellow in Nutrition and Lifestyle Analytics

A Research Fellow is required to work on a major project, funded by the Institute of Grocery Distribution (IGD) – a social impact organisation – to evaluate the impact of pilot trials to promote healthier and more sustainable diets in an in-store setting. The Research Fellow will analyse customer sales/loyalty card data in combination with the nutrition/health metrics and sustainability indicators. The programme works with the IGD and their 20 retailer and manufacturer working group members, who are implementing consumer behaviour change interventions

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Fellow in Data Analytics

As an experienced data handler, you will contribute to the development of grant proposals to research councils, paying particular attention to the creation of Data Management Plan statements. As well as developing new complex, inter-relational databases for the School’s studies and research, you will oversee the School’s existing databases and will use your extensive knowledge to incorporate new data sources into them, implementing changes and improving data validation algorithms. You will also take responsibility for operational planning within your own area, monitoring achievement against those plans and addressing any issues that arise, using your own initiative.
