(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc in Detection and Quantification of Fugitive Emissions
You will be a part of a larger project (KhaosGuard – Innovations in remote sensing for better measurement of greenhouse gas emissions), which is a collaboration with DTU Fotonik, manufacturers of laser products, leading providers of gas measurement services and consultants with a global outreach. The problem addressed is direct emissions of greenhouse gases from industries, utilities, agriculture etc. Minimizing those emissions is of great importance in the effort to mitigate climate change. To minimize direct emissions, accurate and cost-effective measurement methods and instrumentations are needed to asses emissions from various processes, components etc. and to inform facilities in case of defects, which cause increased emissions. We will develop and test both vehicle-based, drone-based and fence-line monitoring applications of laser detection of gaseous emissions from various sources.

Do you want to contribute to a sustainable future? At DTU Energy our research is targeting exactly this, and we are looking for a new post doc team member. It is clear to all that the sooner we can stop relying on fossil fuels the better. Cars and small vehicles can be run on batteries and fuel cells. Larger vessels like aircrafts and ships for long distance transport will need hydrogen carriers with a larger energy density, i.e. liquid fuels. Various fuels can be synthesized by electrolysis and down-stream catalytic upgrading processes, but the question of what the best sustainable alternatives to the fossil fuels we use today remains unanswered.

The Acoustic Technology group at DTU Electro conducts research in architectural acoustics, vibration, transducers, sound field analysis, measurement techniques, acoustical-mechanical interaction, numerical methods, and optimization. As a part of a bigger research project, we are pursuing new designs and concepts for improvements of acoustic components and systems, such as loudspeakers and building elements that can be used in practical applications. This project aims to investigate the use of acoustic metamaterials for achieving enhanced sound radiation characteristic, and to develop optimal strategies for situations when transducers placement is restricted. We foresee the project work will include both theoretical work, numerical studies and optimization as well as experimental validation.

The post doc will become part of the vibrant, cross-disciplinary, and international research environment at the Centre for Ocean Life. Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoc (2) within Theory, Fabrication, and Optical Characterization of Nanocavities and Chip-Scale Spectrometers
The first project concerns the study of bowtie silicon cavities, which we recently employed to demonstrate the world’s smallest optical dielectric cavity, see, https://arxiv.org/abs/2108.01681 and https://arxiv.org/abs/2111.06305. We have recently realized cavities which enhance the light-matter interaction by a Purcell factor or nearly 1 million and we are now embarking on exploiting this extreme and unexplored regime of light-matter interaction for optical nonlinearities, quantum light sources, and optomechanical interactions.
The second project aims to develop chip-scale nanoelectromechanical spectrometers for use in food spectroscopy, wearables, and beyond, which we are pursuing in a large-scale innovation project with several industrial partners. Nanoelectromechanical actuation allows reducing the power consumption of chip-scale sensors by orders of magnitude compared to the prevailing thermo-optic control and offers in addition a playground for physics and engineering combining photonics, mechanics, and electronics at the nanoscale.
