(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow

The successful candidate will develop a novel in vitro system using primary human cells integrated within previously established and newly designed microfluidic chips. This system will be optimized to demonstrate a functional placental barrier with resistance to transport of large proteins. The project involves characterization of the secretome and transcriptome of fetal vasculature in response to inflammatory and anti-angiogenic markers – some of which are upregulated in preeclampsia. This study will also investigate the modulatory role of pregnancy-specific glycoproteins in reducing negative vascular effects associated with pre-eclampsia. This model has the long-term potential to investigate the transport of xenobiotics and infectious disease at the maternal-fetal interface.

Deadline : 22 May 2022

(03) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Computational methods development

Project DECODE aims to comprehensively map, model and understand genetic networks in complex tissues in vivo, in the living organism, at single cell resolution. The project combines high-throughput reverse genetics by cell type specific inducible CRISPR-Cas9 gene knockout followed by single-cell RNA-seq (Perturb-Seq), imaging-based phenotyping, statistical data analysis, and mathematical and computational modelling. To drive this ERC Synergy funded collaboration between the cancer and developmental genetics labs of Michael Boutros (DKFZ) and Jan Lohmann (University of Heidelberg) and the computational groups of Wolfgang Huber (EMBL) and Oliver Stegle (DKFZ & EMBL), we are looking for a postdoc in the areas of probabilistic modelling, statistical inference and scientific computing.

Deadline : 15 May 2022

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Bioinformatics

The Steinmetz group at EMBL Heidelberg is looking for an ambitious computational fellow (postdoc or research scientist, depending on the level of experience) interested in developing novel computational tools to explore exciting large-scale sequencing datasets of different cellular modalities and biological applications. We offer unique opportunities to develop own ideas using a multitude of data types that are generated in our lab on a daily basis. Our interest focusses but is not limited to the following areas:

About The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), Germany – Official Website

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is a molecular biology research institution supported by 27 member states, two prospect states, and one associate member state. EMBL was created in 1974 and is an intergovernmental organization funded by public research money from its member states. Research at EMBL is conducted by approximately 85 independent groups covering the spectrum of molecular biology. The list of independent groups at EMBL can be found at www.embl.org. The Laboratory operates from six sites: the main laboratory in Heidelberg, and sites in Hinxton (the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), in England), Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Rome (Italy) and Barcelona (Spain). EMBL groups and laboratories perform basic research in molecular biology and molecular medicine as well as train scientists, students, and visitors. The organization aids in the development of services, new instruments and methods, and technology in its member states. Israel is the only full member state located outside Europe.
