(02) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow

The Oden Institute is an organized research unit that fosters interdisciplinary programs in computational sciences and engineering, computational medicine, computational geosciences, mathematical modeling, applied mathematics, data science, software engineering, and computational visualization. PhD must have been received within the past three years.

 

The position is funded for a year with possibility of continuation based upon performance review, progress towards research goals, and continuation of funding.  The appointment can be renewed up to 4 times, but an overall duration of 2 or 3 years would normally be expected.

(04) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow – Wildfire Science and Technology

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to fill a 1-year postdoctoral fellow position (with the possibility of an extension based upon performance and project needs/funding) to assist with processing and interpretation of multispectral thermal infrared data of prescribed fires as part of a larger project on active fire (hot spot) detection, fire propagation modeling, 3D plume characterization, and assessing environmental impacts of fires. The aim of the project is to quantify the thermal and gas emissions from prescribed fires in 3D in near real-time using thermal infrared spectroscopy. This will help determine relationships between fire intensity and vegetation change, with the goal of predicting the gas emissions from prescribed and wildland fires.

(05) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Fellow (PI Giani)

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work directly with Matt Giani, Research Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Principal Investigator (PI) of the project, as well as other faculty, staff, and students affiliated with the Texas Behavioral Science and Policy Institute (TxBSPI) in the Population Research Center (PRC) to execute all phases of the project. The Fellow will collaborate with project managers and/or research coordinators to plan the project, support the recruitment of school and district partners for the qualitative research, oversee graduate research assistants assigned to the project, and lead various components of research design, data analysis, and dissemination. The results of the project will illuminate the extent to which IBCs are valuable opportunities for supporting students’ postsecondary outcomes and evaluate the impact of state policy incentivizing students’ IBC receipt.
