(14) Postdoctoral Fellowship Position

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Fellow – ARC Industrial Transformation and Training Centre for Bioplastics and Biocomposites

The primary role of the selected candidate will be to engage as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Fellow within the School of Chemical Engineering to support Director Associate Professor Steven Pratt, as well as Theme Leaders Professor Bronwyn Laycock, Professor Paul Lant, and Professor Peter Halley in their ARC Industrial Transformation and Training Centre on Bioplastics and Biocomposites. There are three different roles on offer, all related to biopolymer and biocomposite processing and modification with a view to product development. In all projects the selected candidate will be involved in all facets of the project and take a pivotal role in undertaking experimental work both in the laboratory and in the field where relevant, assembling and managing datasets, and coordinating work with the various CIs. They will be tasked with evaluating data quality and reporting and integrating outcomes to generate operational strategies for the project. The Functional Imaging and Brain Injury Laboratory directed by Dr. Fatima Nasrallah is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to work on a project supported by the Motor Accident Insurance Commission to investigate the spatial and temporal structural and functional changes in the brain following a brain injury using Magnetic Resonance Imaging. The work will also investigate early neuroimaging markers following traumatic brain injury.

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computational neuroscience, or relevant discipline. The candidate must have demonstrated image processing skills with strong analytical, quantitative and programming skills (e.g., Matlab, Python). Artificial intelligence expertise is a plus.

Postdoc Fellowship Position summary/title: Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work with Professor Xiwang Zhang, Chair & Director of the UQ Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering Innovation, on an ARC Linkage project in particular to design and fabricate high-performance ion selective membranes using advanced materials as building blocks, and to explore potential applications in resource recovery (harvesting valuable ions from waste) and energy conversion (ion-exchange membranes). This project involves a series of interlinked tasks. These tasks include developing experimental procedures and research plans associated with advanced materials synthesis (2D materials and porous materials), membrane fabrication using either conventional methods (phase inversion and interfacial polymerisation) or emerging methods (self-assembling), module design and testing.
