The postdoctoral researcher positions are fixed-term academic research positions. CEPDISC functions as a research team, and the selected applicants are expected to engage in collaborative research with other members across the centre. As part of smaller, interdisciplinary teams within the centre, each selected candidate is expected to contribute substantially to publications and the position will involve a variety of tasks, e.g., philosophical analysis, research design development, data collection, analysis, and if relevant dissemination. All employees at the centre are also expected to take part in the research activities at the centre on a daily basis. This also includes some administrative tasks, e.g., in relation to organising and participating in workshops, seminars etc.  These positions offer strong opportunities for mentoring, academic networking, and developing an independent research agenda. Funding for travel, guest invitations, and original data collection or research assistance are also available. In addition to the outlined research tasks, the positions carry limited teaching obligations, leaving ample time for research.

Supported by a generous ERC Advanced Grant and a Villum Investigator Grant from Villum Fonden we have several postdocs positions in the Center for Basic Research in Program Verification (CPV) at Department of Computer Science, Aarhus University.

The research topics at the Center for Basic Research in Program Verification (CPV) include: extensions of higher-order concurrent separation logics (such as our Iris logic, see iris-project.org), e.g., to reason about distributed systems; probabilistic program logics; logical relations for relational reasoning about safety, liveness, and security properties; formal modeling of low-level capability machines and secure compilation; program logics for relaxed memory models; guarded cubical type theory; and Rocq formalizations.

You will contribute to and further develop research on the fate and ecological effects of contaminants in soil ecosystems. The position focuses on both fundamental and applied aspects of soil ecotoxicology in close collaboration with national and international partners.

• Conduct research on the fate and transport of contaminants in soils, including adsorption/desorption, mobility, leaching and trophic transfer
• Investigate impacts of emerging and conventional contaminants such as PFAS, microplastics, metals, biochar, digestate and sewage sludge
• Assess soil ecosystem responses and contribute to environmental risk assessment
• Conduct experimental work with soil systems and organisms

The Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark, is offering a postdoctoral position in Biogeochemical Modeling in Agroecosystems, starting December 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be available for a two-year period, with possibility of extension.

You will be part of a research environment focusing on estimating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, reactive nitrogen dynamics, and climate change mitigation potentials in agroecosystems. You will be contributing specifically to the area of regional simulation using process-based models and advanced statistical methods for approaches such as model-data fusion techniques.

The main focus of your position will be to develop and apply a scalable process-based modeling framework to evaluate climate-smart management strategies across Denmark, which includes but not limited to nitrification inhibitors and other fertilizer management strategies. A key part of this work will be performing uncertainty analysis and model calibration to support reliable regional projections. Your work will play a vital role in mapping regional mitigation hotspots and assessing the trade-offs between nutrient use efficiency (NUE), nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions, and other reactive nitrogen losses from agroecosystems.

We expect that you will be an important part of the research environment and that you will contribute positively to the social working environment. We also expect that you will take part in our teaching activities and that you will report research results in high-impact scientific journals.

Postdoc 1 will focus on the development and application of computational tools in the project. This includes, first and foremost, computational text analysis to detect shaming and shamelessness in parliamentary debates, party manifestos, press releases, and elite social-media content. It also includes other forms of computational tools used in the project, such as generative agent-based simulations with LLM-powered agents and AI-chatbot-based dialogue interventions. The postdoc will lead the empirical work on work package I and contribute to the computational components of work packages II and III.

Postdoc 2 will focus on the experimental and quasi-experimental work of the project. This includes designing and implementing online and mock social-media experiments, developing causal identification strategies in observational data, and conducting human experiments with AI chatbots as adaptive dialogue interventions. The postdoc will lead the empirical work on work packages II and III, with a strong emphasis on research design and causal inference.

Both postdocs are expected to combine their respective methodological profiles with an active interest in computational tools. They will be part of a collaborative team including the PI and student assistants. Research will primarily be carried out in collaboration with other project members. In addition, the positions involve opportunities to pursue independent work within the overall focus of the project. The successful applicant will become part of an exciting and ambitious research project and a supportive research team with a collegial and respectful atmosphere. We are seeking highly motivated and talented applicants for a 1-year postdoctoral position (with the possibility of 1-2 year extension) in the area of efficient foundation model inference.

Join us at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aarhus University, where we are advancing communication-efficient and distributed foundation model inference across the computing continuum — from Cloud to Edge.  Our research aims to enable scalable, low-latency, and resource-aware deployment of large foundation models.

The Department of Ecoscience leads a citizen science-driven project on seabird mortality in Denmark (https://ecos.au.dk/en/researchconsultancy/themes/supre). As part of this project, volunteers count beached birds and collect carcasses for analysis.

Your task will be to explore what we can learn from the beached bird data. Topics include the distribution of mortality in time and space, and among species; causes of death, as inferred from necropsies; and breeding origin of the birds involved, determined through DNA-based assignment.

Your main responsibility will be to make sense of the data, help understand the impact of the observed mortality on seabird populations, and report the findings as scientific manuscripts. In addition, you may be involved in necropsies.

Key partners include BirdLife Denmark, who organize the beached bird surveys, and Norwegian Institute of Bioeconomy Research, who carry out the genetic analyses.

The project will further connect to ongoing research on plastic ingestion and contaminant body burdens, conducted in collaboration with marine pollution researchers within the department.

The postdoctoral position is part of the Volkswagen Foundation-funded research project “Reforming Science: Investigating the Reflexivity and Reflectivity of (Non)Academic Actors Advocating for Scientific Reforms”, carried out in collaboration between the Danish Centre for Studies in Research and Research Policy at Aarhus University and the Robert K. Merton Center for Science Studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

The project examines contemporary science reform movements and communities associated with, for example, Open Science, metascience, reproducibility, research integrity, research assessment and related reform agendas. These communities have become increasingly influential in research policy, funding, publishing, evaluation and academic governance, yet their social and intellectual structures, forms of organisation, argumentative strategies and historical distinctiveness remain insufficiently understood.

The postdoc will be based at CFA and will work primarily on the work packages led by Professor Jesper W. Schneider. The position will involve a combination of quantitative and qualitative research tasks, including bibliometric analysis, social network analysis, survey design and analysis, citation-context analysis, and historically informed comparative analysis of science reforms.

Postdoctoral position #1

is funded through a recently awarded grant from the Danish Cancer Society (Kræftens Bekæmpelse) and focuses on uncovering novel mechanisms regulating PARP1 function and ADP-ribosylation signalling in genome maintenance and cancer biology. Building on recent discoveries, the project aims to understand how regulatory protein states influence DNA repair and responses to PARP inhibitor therapy.

Postdoctoral position #2

focuses on developing next-generation proteomics technologies, including quantitative PTM analysis, mass spectrometry method development, data-independent acquisition (DIA) strategies, laboratory automation, and scalable proteomics workflows.

Both positions are initially available for two years with the possibility of extension. The expected start date is October 1st, 2026, or soon thereafter.
We are seeking ambitious and highly motivated researchers who are excited by the opportunity to contribute to an internationally competitive research programme at the interface of proteomics technology development, regulatory protein biology, and cancer research.

The postdoc will lead the Department of Food Science’s controlled-environment testing activities in Work Package 5 of the EVOLVE project. The work will generate biological evidence linking extracellular vesicle (EV) treatments to plant physiological and molecular responses and will feed into the project’s design-test-model cycle.

The position will also strengthen the unit’s capacity in plant cultivation under controlled and sterile conditions and in EV/miRNA biology.

Key tasks:

• Establish and run reproducible plant cultivation under controlled and, where required, sterile/axenic conditions, including growth chambers, hydroponics and aeroponics.
• Apply native and synthetic EVs to plants and quantify uptake and whole-plant physiological responses.
• Isolate and characterise extracellular vesicles from plant material.
• Analyse molecular responses, including gene expression (RT-qPCR), miRNA/small-RNA profiling and secondary-metabolite profiles.
• Investigate interactions between EV treatments and bacteria involved in the nitrogen cycle, linking vesicle-based signalling to nutrient-use efficiency.
• Manage data, perform statistical analysis and exchange results with project partners producing synthetic EVs and modelling the data.
• Contribute to publications, reporting and dissemination; co-supervise students and support day-to-day laboratory activities.

The major barrier to unlocking the full potential of nucleic acid–based therapeutics is their inefficient delivery to the cytosol. Current technologies like lipid nanopartcles (LNPs) are limited by poor biodistribution and inefficient endosomal escape. This project aims to validate a novel LNP-free delivery strategy for RNA therapeutics such as siRNA and antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs). The project is funded by a Distinguished Innovator Grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation and carried out under the supervision of Professor Claus Elsborg Olesen. The project’s main objective is to optimize the RNA delivery platform through in vitro screening models, followed by in vivo safety and proof-of-concept studies.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join an interdisciplinary research project on CO2-to-protein. The Angenent lab, in close collaboration with the Ottosen Lab have, together with the Novo Nordisk Foundation CO2 Research Center (CORC), built an extensive laboratory facility to operate a 200-L pilot plant. This laboratory in BCE at Aarhus University, has extensive expertise in bioprocess engineering and applied microbiology. The postdoc on reactor design and scaling will work closely with another postdoc to operate the bench-scale and pilot-scale bioreactors.

Our group, the Valero Lab, is passionate about nucleic acids (DNA, RNA and XNA). We focus on a unique angle that combines cutting edge nanotechnology tools, nucleic acid chemistry and in vitro evolution techniques to develop novel nucleic acid systems that display a wide variety of functionalities.

The focus of this postdoc position is to develop novel methods for the in vitro selection of chemically modified RNAs and to design interlocked nucleic acid nanostructures for biomolecular targeting.

The successful candidate will primarily work on:

• Chemical modification of RNA (Bioconjugation, HPLC purification, RNA incorporation validation)
• Selection and characterization of RNA aptamers

The Plant Molecular Biology section at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious postdoctoral researcher to join a dynamic and international research team. You will play a central role in advancing our understanding of the molecular dialogue between plants and their associated microorganisms, with the long-term goal of contributing to more sustainable and resilient agricultural systems.

The research team you will join is coordinating an international program that brings together leading scientists from around the world to investigate beneficial plant–microbe associations and harness their potential for sustainable food production.

Our focus is on uncovering the molecular mechanisms by which plants and microbes interact—ranging from early recognition events to colonization strategies. Within this framework, the advertised postdoctoral project is specifically focused on characterizing the role of key regulators of plant-microbe interaction in maize using genetically modified maize plants expressing different genes, with impact on root development and plant-microbe interactions.
